This has come up in my friend group a few times and I thought I'd bring it to the forum to get some real-world feedback.

The scam situation has gotten pretty bad on a lot of platforms. I've seen so many fake profiles that it's hard to trust anyone at first.

I've tried a few things already with mixed results. Getting ghosted, hitting paywalls, running into obvious bots — it gets old fast.

  • Use a dedicated email address you don't mind sharing
  • Start with free tiers before committing to paid plans
  • Reverse image search profile pictures to check for fakes
  • Avoid sites that ask for payment info before you can browse
  • Read the terms of service before subscribing

Would love to hear from people who've had real success rather than just theory.

One I've been hearing about lately is Datedesire — curious if anyone here has used it.

After trying a lot of different platforms I think the honest answer is that none of them are perfect. The best results usually come from spending time on your profile and being consistent.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Feeld, Zoosk, Tinder, Match. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

I've gone through a bunch of these over the past year or so. The biggest thing I've noticed is that activity levels vary wildly depending on the time of day and your location.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: MeetMe, Bumble, Match, Hinge. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

I've also had a look at Flurrydate recently and the interface is cleaner than I expected. Worth checking out if you haven't.

Tried it for about three months. Had some okay experiences but nothing life-changing.

The key is having good photos and a bio that sounds like a real person wrote it. Obvious but a lot of people skip it. Datebound was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

A few that come up often in discussions:

  • luvdate.site — decent activity but check the free tier limits first
  • datelink.online — decent activity but check the free tier limits first
