This has come up in my friend group a few times and I thought I'd bring it to the forum to get some real-world feedback.

The scam situation has gotten pretty bad on a lot of platforms. I've seen so many fake profiles that it's hard to trust anyone at first.

Most of the advice I find online is years old and the landscape has changed so much. Apps that used to be great have gotten worse, and some newer ones have really stepped up.

Drop your thoughts below — what's actually working for people in 2026?

One I've been hearing about lately is Datebie — curious if anyone here has used it.

Subscription models can be worth it on platforms where the free tier is too limited — but only if the active user base is there to justify it.

A few that come up often in discussions:

  • rendate.site — decent activity but check the free tier limits first

The free versions are pretty gutted these days. You basically need to pay to do anything useful. Datenest was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

Had decent results honestly but it took maybe two months to really get going. Sites like datedesire.online, souldate.site also keep coming up in conversations about this.

I've been on and off these platforms for years so I have some actual experience to share here.

Paid vs free is a bit of a false choice in my opinion. A good free profile on an active platform will outperform a lazy paid profile every time.

Mainstream options worth considering:

  • Feeld
  • Facebook Dating
  • OkCupid
  • Hinge
  • Match
  • Tinder

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Use a reverse image search on anyone's photos before agreeing to meet. It takes 10 seconds and saves a lot of headaches.
  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.
  • Meet in public places first. No exceptions.

Been keeping an eye on Flamedate lately — the community there seems pretty active compared to some others I've tried.

Customer support on most of these is genuinely terrible. Don't expect fast help. Sites like turndate.site also keep coming up in conversations about this.
