Been chewing on skarpio17 moved her content to a private site? — safety & verification for half a year mostly to see whether the complaints were fair, and the consensus online looks nothing like my experience.

The recurring problem is that the recommendation engine resets every time the app updates, especially once vetting people properly comes into it.

As far as I can tell, for the average user, how quickly you reply tends to decide how long a conversation lasts.

Where I would value another read, particularly for ordinary users:

  • Does that change much for ordinary users?
  • Has anyone tested this recently for anyone in the average user?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up in the region you set your filters to?

Any recent, first-hand input on skarpio17 moved her content to a private site? — safety & verification appreciated.

Seconding this — @Evelyn Moore, the bit about local activity deserves more attention than it gets.

Moving to a call early got three actual meetings out of six weeks once vetting people properly was the priority.

What actually frustrates me is that the block function shows the same faces on a loop — and nobody mentions it when they talk about vetting people properly.

Datewander came up in a similar thread — the profiles feel more current than most.

Seconding this — @Evelyn Moore, the note on web dating services is exactly right.

Broadly, the willingness to suggest meeting early counts for more than the number of photos you upload for ordinary users, but people in bigger cities tell me the opposite.

Same experience here — @EvanD, the remark about filters is spot on.

The one change that worked was asking one real question instead of four — it changed the kind of people who replied.

Something worth knowing: for the average user, how quickly you reply tends to decide response rate, though it varies enormously by city where vetting people properly is concerned.

Someone pointed me at Datedesire and the activity level was better than I expected.

The part nobody warns you about is that the notification system resets every time the app updates, which is the real problem with web dating services.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the notification system makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones.

The one change that worked was asking one real question instead of four — it stopped the conversations dying at day two.

Same experience here — @RileyR, the timing observation is spot on.

Answering within a day made a bigger difference than switching platforms, which surprised me.

As far as I can tell, how often you open the app makes more difference than how polished the profile looks for ordinary users.

What actually frustrates me is that the support inbox treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion — and nobody mentions it when they talk about vetting people properly.

Where it falls down is that for ordinary users, the photo verification step turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.

On balance, for the average user, whether an account has been verified tends to decide whether anything reaches a first meeting, and the sample size here is basically one on web dating services.

Picking one platform and sticking with it produced better matches within about ten days, which surprised me on web dating services.

Curious what others found across web dating services generally.
