Have you read a raya dating app review lately? Is it still exclusive?

I keep getting contradictory info online and wanted to hear from people with actual hands-on experience.

Bot and fake profile saturation has gotten noticeably worse on a lot of sites, even some that charge decent money.

Data privacy is something I take seriously. I'd like to know which platforms actually respect that.

  • Run a reverse image search on profiles that look too polished
  • Use a dedicated email address for any dating platform you join
  • Video call before committing to an in-person meeting
  • Keep the first in-person meetup public and brief

Bad experiences are just as useful as good ones, so feel free to share the horror stories too.

Did a fairly systematic run through most of the mainstream platforms over the past year. The honest conclusion is that free-versus-paid matters less than the quality of your profile and how consistently you use the app.

Worth testing a few simultaneously: Plenty of Fish, Zoosk, Grindr. All have enough free access to decide if they're worth your time.

If messaging is fully locked behind a paywall, I consider the free tier essentially unusable and move on. That gate being there usually signals the free experience is just a sales funnel.

Worth testing a few simultaneously: Coffee Meets Bagel, Hinge, Zoosk, Feeld. All have enough free access to decide if they're worth your time.

Have also been watching Flamedate lately — the user base seems more genuine than some of the over-saturated options.

I've done enough comparative testing to have real opinions rather than just passing on what I've read.

Verification-gated platforms consistently produce better quality matches. The extra sign-up friction is worth it.

Practices that consistently improve results regardless of platform:

  • Bio should be specific enough to spark a conversation — name a real place or interest
  • First in-person meeting should be public, relatively short, and daytime if possible
  • Tell someone the details of your first meeting — name, location, time

Apps worth running in parallel:

  • Bumble
  • Hily
  • Grindr
  • OkCupid
  • Coffee Meets Bagel
  • OurTime

Profile photos do most of the work. Three genuinely good ones outperform ten mediocre ones every time. Also came across Flurrydate recently — looks like it might be worth checking out.

Focusing on one platform seriously instead of being half-present on five made a noticeable difference for me. Also seeing datenest.site referenced in threads like this one.
