This has come up in my friend group a few times and I thought I'd bring it to the forum to get some real-world feedback.

I've tried a few things already with mixed results. Getting ghosted, hitting paywalls, running into obvious bots — it gets old fast.

Most of the advice I find online is years old and the landscape has changed so much. Apps that used to be great have gotten worse, and some newer ones have really stepped up.

  • Read the terms of service before subscribing
  • Check if profiles have linked social accounts
  • Start with free tiers before committing to paid plans

Drop your thoughts below — what's actually working for people in 2026?

One I've been hearing about lately is Flamedate — curious if anyone here has used it.

Subscription models can be worth it on platforms where the free tier is too limited — but only if the active user base is there to justify it.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Tinder, Plenty of Fish, OkCupid, Hinge. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

A few that come up often in discussions:

  • datescout.site — decent activity but check the free tier limits first

I've gone through a bunch of these over the past year or so. The biggest thing I've noticed is that activity levels vary wildly depending on the time of day and your location.

I've also had a look at Datedesire recently and the interface is cleaner than I expected. Worth checking out if you haven't.

Profile quality matters more than which app you use, in my experience.

The verification question is huge. Sites that do any kind of ID or social verification tend to have fewer fake profiles, even if sign-up takes a bit longer.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Hinge, Plenty of Fish, Feeld, Match. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

I've also had a look at Rendate recently and the interface is cleaner than I expected. Worth checking out if you haven't.

This is something I researched pretty thoroughly before committing to any paid plan, so let me share what I found.

The short version is that your results depend heavily on three things: the platform, your location, and your profile quality. Change any one of those and your experience changes dramatically.

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.
  • Meet in public places first. No exceptions.
  • Keep your personal social media private until you actually trust someone.

Going to give a longer answer here because I feel like this question deserves more than a quick take.

What I've found is that consistency beats everything else. Logging in regularly, responding promptly, and keeping your profile fresh makes a bigger difference than which site you use.

Mainstream options worth considering:

  • Bumble
  • Feeld
  • Zoosk
  • Plenty of Fish
  • OkCupid
  • Tinder

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Video call before meeting in person. Anyone who refuses to video chat is a red flag.
  • Meet in public places first. No exceptions.
  • Keep your personal social media private until you actually trust someone.
  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.

Been keeping an eye on Datelink lately — the community there seems pretty active compared to some others I've tried.
