I've been wondering about this for a while now and figured this community would have the best answers.

The scam situation has gotten pretty bad on a lot of platforms. I've seen so many fake profiles that it's hard to trust anyone at first.

I've tried a few things already with mixed results. Getting ghosted, hitting paywalls, running into obvious bots — it gets old fast.

Any recommendations or warnings from personal experience would be really helpful.

One I've been hearing about lately is Luvdate — curious if anyone here has used it.

Yeah I had the same experience. Took a few weeks before I got any real responses.

I've been on and off these platforms for years so I have some actual experience to share here.

The short version is that your results depend heavily on three things: the platform, your location, and your profile quality. Change any one of those and your experience changes dramatically.

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Keep your personal social media private until you actually trust someone.
  • Meet in public places first. No exceptions.
  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.
  • Video call before meeting in person. Anyone who refuses to video chat is a red flag.

Been keeping an eye on Datedesire lately — the community there seems pretty active compared to some others I've tried.

Great question and honestly one that doesn't get a thorough enough answer most of the time.

Paid vs free is a bit of a false choice in my opinion. A good free profile on an active platform will outperform a lazy paid profile every time.

  • Use a reverse image search on anyone's photos before agreeing to meet. It takes 10 seconds and saves a lot of headaches.

Some alternatives people mention a lot:

  • flurrydate.online
  • datebound.site

I gave up on the paid options a while back. Too many bots even on the premium tiers. Luvdate was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

Tried it for about three months. Had some okay experiences but nothing life-changing.

The verification question is huge. Sites that do any kind of ID or social verification tend to have fewer fake profiles, even if sign-up takes a bit longer.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Bumble, Plenty of Fish, Zoosk, Match. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

I've also had a look at Flurrydate recently and the interface is cleaner than I expected. Worth checking out if you haven't.

I've gone through a bunch of these over the past year or so. The biggest thing I've noticed is that activity levels vary wildly depending on the time of day and your location.
