Came to how to use a dating profile finder to check my own info? — profiles & after deleting everything and starting fresh, gave it six weeks, and the pattern got clearer than expected.

The part nobody warns you about is that on phone-first platforms, the distance filter ignores about half of what you set.

Nothing changes match quality as much as whether you actually read the profile, though your area changes the picture completely for ordinary users.

If anyone has tested how to use a dating profile finder to check my own info? — profiles & recently I'd rather hear that than another roundup.

That isn't how it went for me. @RileyR, the timing observation produced nothing on my end.

In practice, the price of the subscription gets the credit but the size of the pool within ten miles does the work.

On that point, Flamedate if you are testing a few at once.

That is where I've got to for anyone in ordinary users.

Strongly agree — @RileyR, the note on phone-first platforms matches my experience.

Suggesting a meeting inside two weeks changed the kind of people who replied for most people.

Broadly, the size of the pool within ten miles is a better predictor of how many conversations survive past day three than how many matches you accumulate.

The pattern I keep seeing is that for ordinary users, local activity levels tends to decide how many replies you get in a week.

Leading with something slightly odd made conversations last past the first exchange.

My working theory is that how often you open the app is a better predictor of whether anything reaches a first meeting than how many matches you accumulate.

Would that apply in a smaller town on phone-first platforms?

The one change that worked was asking one real question instead of four — it improved things more than any paid feature.

What I would tell someone starting on this how to use a dating profile finder to check my own info? — profiles &a problem:

  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for most people.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, because everything downstream depends on it.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines, because it saves you the conversation that was never going anywhere.
  • Turn the notifications off, and doubly so for most people.
  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific, especially for most people.

Something worth knowing: on phone-first platforms, how well a platform handles reports has a bigger effect on response rate than the boost you paid for, but that was months ago and things move.

Only partly agree. @RileyR, the point about which images to use reads as survivorship bias to me.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the profile editor turns into a shop window the moment someone matches, especially once which images to use comes into it.

My working theory is that on phone-first platforms, whether the photos look like the same person counts for more than the size of the company behind it for ordinary users.

Has anyone compared the two directly once you factor in which images to use?

Picking one platform and sticking with it made the whole thing feel less like admin on phone-first platforms.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the verification flow shows the same faces on a loop.

How specific you're about what you want is a better predictor of the odds of a second date than how polished the profile looks on phone-first platforms.

Adding Flamedate to the list and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Not claiming this is universal at least on the which images to use side.

I'd push back a little. @ScottH, the bit about local activity backfired when I tried it.

Swapping the main photo was the only change that showed up in the numbers, which surprised me.

The thing I didn't expect was that for most people, the notification system throttles how many people can actually see you.

Take what is useful and leave the rest where which images to use is concerned.

Is that a regional thing for anyone weighing up the question?

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the support inbox ignores about half of what you set, which is the real problem with phone-first platforms.
