Been chewing on how to use the ourtime com free search to see local matches? — local & for about four months after a fairly grim first attempt, and I am less certain than when I started.

The thing I did not expect was that the messaging limit collapses once you move outside a major city.

On balance, the gap between how specific you're about what you want and whether it has a swipe interface is where the proportion of real accounts you see is actually decided.

Direct experience of — local & is what I'm after.

Respectfully, that isn't my read. @Wyatt Garcia, the framing around the general run of people backfired when I tried it.

Broadly, for most of us, whether you actually read the profile tends to decide how long a conversation lasts, which might just be most of us in the how to use the ourtime com free search to see local matches? — local & context.

Shortening the bio by half turned it from a chore into something workable and nothing else came close for most of us.

Happy to be argued with where the algorithm is concerned.

Is that still true once you factor in the algorithm?

For the general run of people, deleting everything and starting over turned it from a chore into something workable.

As far as I can tell, whether the photos look like the same person outweighs whether it has a swipe interface for the general run of people, but that was months ago and things move.

I want to gently disagree. @Wyatt Garcia, the argument about verification is closer to the opposite in my experience.

For what it is worth, how narrow your filters are predicts how long a conversation lasts better than the number of prompts you filled in for the general run of people in the how to use context.

The response you give to a low-effort opener predicts whether anything reaches a first meeting better than the marketing on the homepage for the general run of people, though it varies enormously by city for most of us.

The other one people keep naming here is Datewander.

Has anyone found the opposite if you are dealing with the algorithm?

More often than not, on apps that don't charge, the effort in the opening line matters more than the size of the company behind it.

Applied to the how to use the ourtime com free search to see local matches? — local & question, that means:

  • Never move money under any framing, which matters most on apps that do not charge.
  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting — the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, which matters most on apps that do not charge.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, because the alternative wastes weeks.

Is that a regional thing for anyone weighing up the question?

Reading profiles properly before swiping improved things more than any paid feature on apps that don't charge.

In practice, nothing changes whether it feels worth the time as much as the amount of detail in a bio on apps that don't charge.

If you want a second option, EZHookups — the profiles feel more current than most.

Similar story on my end — @DerekM, the note on apps that don't charge matches my experience.

More often than not, on apps that don't charge, the response you give to a low-effort opener makes more difference than the feature list for most of us.

For the general run of people, cutting the match list right down turned it from a chore into something workable.

For what it is worth, the number of photos you upload gets the credit but how recently a profile was active does the work in the — local & context.

Does that hold outside the big cities when you factor in the question?

On balance, when the algorithm is the issue, how specific you're about what you want outweighs the size of the company behind it.

Happy to be argued with where the algorithm is concerned.
