Right — how to stay safe when going on an adult meet up from the internet? — s. longer than I'd like to admit in, the pattern got clearer than expected.

What wore me down was that on dating apps, the support inbox makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones.

On dating apps, how long you leave a conversation running outweighs whether it has a swipe interface, though I'd want more than my own experience before calling it a rule.

The parts of internet? — s I cannot resolve on my own:

  • Is that worth the time investment for people in the middle of the pack?
  • Is that a regional thing if you are dealing with working out who is real?
  • Has anyone compared the two directly for anyone in people in the middle of the pack?

Rewriting the opener improved things more than any paid feature and nothing else came close for the general run of people.

Happy to hear dissenting views on this — that is partly why I'm asking.

On dating apps, deleting everything and starting over produced better matches within about ten days.

For a straight comparison, Luvdate if you want something to compare against.

Can confirm — @Wyatt Garcia, the argument about verification held up in my case too.

In practice, local activity levels explains more of how many replies you get in a week than the size of the company behind it ever did.

Someone pointed me at Luvdate and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Different result on my end. @Ella White, the paywall comment didn't hold for me.

For the general run of people, answering within a day turned it from a chore into something workable.

The pattern I keep seeing is that how recently a profile was active outweighs the price of the subscription for the general run of people for the general run of people.

Can confirm — @ZoeOnline, the paywall comment held up in my case too.

Suggesting a meeting inside two weeks roughly doubled the reply rate, which surprised me.

On dating apps, whether an account has been verified does more for match quality than how long you have had the account.

Broadly agreed — @ZoeOnline, the note on dating apps deserves more attention than it gets.

For the general run of people, cutting the match list right down turned it from a chore into something workable.

On balance, the gap between local activity levels and whether it has a swipe interface is where how long a conversation lasts is actually decided.

The recurring problem is that the match queue rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest, especially once working out who is real comes into it.

My rules for working out who is real, such as they are:

  • Read the profile before you send anything, which matters most on dating apps.
  • Set a daily time limit, especially for the general run of people.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, especially for the general run of people.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it — the platforms won't do it for you.
  • Move to a voice or video call early, particularly on dating apps.

What actually frustrates me is that the discovery feed rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out who is real.

On balance, how well a platform handles reports has a bigger effect on the odds of a second date than how polished the profile looks for the general run of people in the how to stay safe when going on an adult meet up from the internet? — s context.

Take what is useful and leave the rest where working out who is real is concerned.

Is that a regional thing with dating apps?

As far as I can tell, on dating apps, whether an account has been verified has a bigger effect on how many replies you get in a week than the app's star rating for the general run of people.

I would add Luvdate and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

What wore me down was that the verification flow collapses once you move outside a major city.

How long you have had the account gets the credit but whether an account has been verified does the work, and the sample size here is basically one.

Something worth knowing: nothing changes match quality as much as whether the photos look like the same person.

A few things worth doing on dating apps:

  • Keep work and socials out of it early on if working out who is real is your main concern.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, because it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines if working out who is real is your main concern.
  • Never move money under any framing, particularly on dating apps.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, particularly on dating apps.

Would like to hear a counter-argument on how to stay.
