Been doing a lot of research on this topic and honestly the info online is all over the place.

There's a lot of conflicting info out there. Some people swear by paid sites, others say free options work just as well if you know how to use them.

The scam situation has gotten pretty bad on a lot of platforms. I've seen so many fake profiles that it's hard to trust anyone at first.

Any recommendations or warnings from personal experience would be really helpful.

One I've been hearing about lately is Datenest — curious if anyone here has used it.

Had decent results honestly but it took maybe two months to really get going. Sites like datescout.site also keep coming up in conversations about this.

Subscription models can be worth it on platforms where the free tier is too limited — but only if the active user base is there to justify it.

I've also had a look at Datedesire recently and the interface is cleaner than I expected. Worth checking out if you haven't.

I've gone through a bunch of these over the past year or so. The biggest thing I've noticed is that activity levels vary wildly depending on the time of day and your location.

Honestly this depends so much on your location. Works great in bigger cities, dead in rural areas. Turndate was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

I think people underestimate how much the messaging style matters. A long opener that actually references someone's profile does way better than a generic first message.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Match, Tinder, Facebook Dating. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

Great question and honestly one that doesn't get a thorough enough answer most of the time.

What I've found is that consistency beats everything else. Logging in regularly, responding promptly, and keeping your profile fresh makes a bigger difference than which site you use.

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Video call before meeting in person. Anyone who refuses to video chat is a red flag.
  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.
  • Use a reverse image search on anyone's photos before agreeing to meet. It takes 10 seconds and saves a lot of headaches.
  • Keep your personal social media private until you actually trust someone.

Been keeping an eye on Datelink lately — the community there seems pretty active compared to some others I've tried.

My advice: use multiple platforms at once. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Sites like turndate.site also keep coming up in conversations about this.

Profile quality matters more than which app you use, in my experience.
