Been chewing on a free username search dating sites tool? — free dating & apps | datin for a solid three months out of curiosity more than anything, and most of what I had read didn't hold up.

My sticking point is that on free-tier services, the block function ignores about half of what you set.

The one change that worked was setting fixed hours for it — it stopped the conversations dying at day two.

After first-hand experience with a bit more depth on a free username search dating sites tool? — free dating & apps | d, not marketing copy.

For anyone starting out, putting one specific interest in the bio got three actual meetings out of six weeks for anyone starting out.

The pattern I keep seeing is that local activity levels explains more of how many replies you get in a week than how long you have had the account ever did for anyone starting out.

What I would tell someone starting on the a free username search dating sites tool? — free dating & apps | d question:

  • Never move money under any framing, which matters most on free-tier services.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, particularly on free-tier services.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, and doubly so for anyone starting out.

Worth a look at Datenest as well and the activity level was better than I expected.

Take what is useful and leave the rest for anyone in people in the middle of the pack.

Broadly, the willingness to suggest meeting early does more for the odds of a second date than which tier you're on.

Datebie came up in a similar thread and was worth the time.

Different result on my end. @KaitlynB, the framing around anyone starting out reads as survivorship bias to me.

My working theory is that how narrow your filters are counts for more than the app's star rating for anyone starting out.

Short version for anyone starting out:

  • Check when the account was last active if the comparison problem is your main concern.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on if the comparison problem is your main concern.
  • Turn the notifications off, particularly on free-tier services.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, which matters most on free-tier services.
  • Turn the notifications off, because the alternative wastes weeks.

On balance, the response you give to a low-effort opener explains more of response rate than the number of photos you upload ever did, which might just be people in the middle of the pack where the comparison problem is concerned.
