Been at this six weeks now, after moving to a new city, and my view has shifted twice since.

The detail that ruins it is that on casual-first platforms, the verification flow quietly stops working after the first week.

My working theory is that nothing changes match quality as much as how often you open the app when it comes to a site that focuses on fwb dating only? — free dating & apps | dat.

For people without a niche, setting fixed hours for it made a bigger difference than switching platforms for people without a niche.

If you have opinions on a site that focuses on fwb dating only? — free dating & apps | datingf, especially unpopular ones, go ahead.

Strongly agree — @JessicaH, the profile-quality point is the whole thing really.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that the profile editor turns into a shop window the moment someone matches — and nobody mentions it when they talk about evaluating the alternatives.

Saying plainly what I was not after made the whole thing feel less like admin, which surprised me.

Been running Datenest in parallel — the profiles feel more current than most.

Your results may differ if you are on casual-first platforms.

Has anyone tested this recently across casual-first platforms?

For people without a niche, dropping the filters made a bigger difference than switching platforms for anyone starting out.

Is anyone getting different results in your own area?

Cutting the match list right down changed the kind of people who replied.

Happy to be argued with if you're on casual-first platforms.

Is that still true where evaluating the alternatives is concerned?

What nobody mentions is that the block function produces a template reply and closes the ticket, which is the real problem with casual-first platforms.

On casual-first platforms, reading profiles properly before swiping made conversations last past the first exchange for people without a niche.

Boiled down, for anyone weighing up a site that:

  • Say what you want in the first two lines, because it is the single strongest signal you control.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished — with this this is the difference-maker.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished — with this this is the difference-maker.
  • Check when the account was last active, because it is the single strongest signal you control.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, particularly on casual-first platforms.

Whether you actually read the profile does more for the odds of a second date than how polished the profile looks when it comes to apps | datingf.

On casual-first platforms, asking one real question instead of four turned it from a chore into something workable.

My sticking point is that for people without a niche, the messaging limit surfaces profiles that haven't been touched in months.

Still working it out especially for people without a niche.

The part nobody warns you about is that for people without a niche, the search function rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest.

For people without a niche, suggesting a meeting inside two weeks got three actual meetings out of six weeks on casual-first platforms.

As far as I can tell, when evaluating the alternatives is the issue, whether an account has been verified matters more than the number of photos you upload, though your area changes the picture completely.

Adding Rendate to the list and the activity level was better than I expected.

Still working it out on the question.

Opposite for me, oddly. @SydneyR, the paywall comment backfired when I tried it.

Where it falls down is that the account activity indicator quietly stops working after the first week, especially once evaluating the alternatives comes into it.

More often than not, the honesty of the bio predicts response rate better than the total registered user count for people without a niche for anyone starting out.

If you want a second option, Datewander and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

My sticking point is that the notification system buries you the moment you stop checking daily, which is the real problem with casual-first platforms.

Swapping the main photo made a bigger difference than switching platforms and nothing else came close.

As far as I can tell, the gap between how consistently you show up and the feature list is where response rate is actually decided.

For a straight comparison, Datebound and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

On casual-first platforms, answering within a day made a bigger difference than switching platforms once evaluating the alternatives was the priority.

Does that hold outside the big cities when you factor in this whole area?
