Posting this after longer than I would like to admit on best features of a free dating and chatting app? — free dating & apps — two things mattered and the rest did not.

The recurring problem is that the block function shows the same faces on a loop.

The honesty of the bio outweighs whether it has a swipe interface for the broad user base for people without a niche.

What I am actually trying to work out regarding cutting through the roundups:

  • Is anyone getting different results when cutting through the roundups is the main worry?
  • Does that change much given cutting through the roundups?
  • Does that change much on genuinely free apps?
  • Has anyone had the reverse happen for the broad user base?

Keen to hear from anyone who has dealt with best features of a free dating and chatting app? — free dating & apps lately.

Respectfully, that is not my read. @MorganP, the bit about local activity held for a fortnight then stopped.

Putting one specific interest in the bio got three actual meetings out of six weeks, which surprised me.

Boiled down, for anyone weighing up best features of a free dating and chatting app? — free dating & a:

  • Move to a voice or video call early, which matters most on genuinely free apps.
  • Read the profile before you send anything, especially for the broad user base.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on, especially for the broad user base.

I've had a decent run on Datedesire if you're testing a few at once.

Still working it out where cutting through the roundups is concerned.

Swapping the main photo changed the kind of people who replied.

The recurring problem is that the match queue treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion, especially once cutting through the roundups comes into it.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the effort in the opening line does more for whether it feels worth the time than which tier you're on when it comes to best features of a free dating and chatting app? — free dating & a specifically.

On that point, Flurrydate — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Seconding this — @Scarlett Harris, the timing observation is the whole thing really.

In practice, local activity levels explains more of how many conversations survive past day three than how many matches you accumulate ever did, though a friend had the reverse experience.

My working theory is that for people without a niche, how often you open the app tends to decide how many conversations survive past day three.

Dropping the filters improved things more than any paid feature, which surprised me.

For a straight comparison, Luvdate if you want something to compare against.

Is that still true when you factor in the question?

What wore me down was that the profile editor seems designed to keep you swiping rather than talking — and nobody mentions it when they talk about cutting through the roundups.

On genuinely free apps, how long you leave a conversation running beats the boost you paid for for the broad user base.

On genuinely free apps, setting fixed hours for it roughly doubled the reply rate for people without a niche.

Try Datescout alongside whatever else you're testing purely on how busy it is locally.

Does that hold outside the big cities for the broad user base?

Same experience here — @Scarlett Harris, the profile-quality point is exactly right.

Something worth knowing: on genuinely free apps, the quality of your first message has a bigger effect on how many conversations survive past day three than the price of the subscription in the best features of a free dating and chatting app? — free dating & a in practice context.
