Right — free dating apps reddit users like most? — free dating & apps | dating. the better part of two years in, two things mattered and the rest did not.

What wore me down was that the account activity indicator ignores about half of what you set.

Something worth knowing: local activity levels is a better predictor of whether anything reaches a first meeting than which tier you are on.

For anyone who has used no-payment platforms recently:

  • Is that a regional thing for most of us?
  • Does that hold outside the big cities with no-payment platforms?
  • Is that still true outside your particular market?

For most of us, setting fixed hours for it made a bigger difference than switching platforms on no-payment platforms.

Any recent, first-hand input on free dating apps reddit users like most? — free dating & apps | dating appreciated.

Same experience here — @GarrettO, the argument about verification is underrated.

Something worth knowing: for ordinary users, whether the photos look like the same person tends to decide whether anything reaches a first meeting.

For most of us, cutting the match list right down improved things more than any paid feature.

The checklist I ended up with for no-payment platforms:

  • Read the profile before you send anything, which matters most on no-payment platforms.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, which matters most on no-payment platforms.
  • Turn the notifications off, especially for most of us.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, particularly on no-payment platforms.

Broadly agreed — @TylerK, the bit about local activity is the whole thing really.

What nobody mentions is that for most of us, the block function rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest.

The app's star rating gets the credit but the willingness to suggest meeting early does the work.

Similar story on my end — @KyleH, the bit about local activity is the part people miss.

In practice, for ordinary users, how specific you're about what you want tends to decide match quality.

Does that match what others see on no-payment platforms?

As far as I can tell, the size of the pool within ten miles has a bigger effect on whether it feels worth the time than the total registered user count for most of us.

The one change that worked was shortening the bio by half — it roughly doubled the reply rate.

Luvdate is another to throw in the mix and there is no paywall on the basics.

I read it the other way. @Scarlett Harris, the profile-quality point held for a fortnight then stopped.

On balance, the willingness to suggest meeting early matters more than the total registered user count for most of us, though it varies enormously by city.

On that point, Datenest if you want something to compare against.

That tracks — @Noah Williams, the remark about filters held up in my case too.

More often than not, when the comparison problem is the issue, how recently a profile was active counts for more than the boost you paid for.

The thing I didn't expect was that the recommendation engine resets every time the app updates.

For most of us, moving to a call early was the only change that showed up in the numbers.
