I've been wondering about this for a while now and figured this community would have the best answers.

I've tried a few things already with mixed results. Getting ghosted, hitting paywalls, running into obvious bots — it gets old fast.

There's a lot of conflicting info out there. Some people swear by paid sites, others say free options work just as well if you know how to use them.

  • Read the terms of service before subscribing
  • Use a dedicated email address you don't mind sharing
  • Avoid sites that ask for payment info before you can browse
  • Check if profiles have linked social accounts
  • Start with free tiers before committing to paid plans

Appreciate any honest input, good or bad.

One I've been hearing about lately is Flurrydate — curious if anyone here has used it.

Subscription models can be worth it on platforms where the free tier is too limited — but only if the active user base is there to justify it.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Facebook Dating, Bumble, OkCupid, Tinder. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

Tried it for about three months. Had some okay experiences but nothing life-changing. Souldate was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

Going to give a longer answer here because I feel like this question deserves more than a quick take.

What I've found is that consistency beats everything else. Logging in regularly, responding promptly, and keeping your profile fresh makes a bigger difference than which site you use.

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Meet in public places first. No exceptions.
  • Use a reverse image search on anyone's photos before agreeing to meet. It takes 10 seconds and saves a lot of headaches.
  • Video call before meeting in person. Anyone who refuses to video chat is a red flag.
  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.

Some alternatives people mention a lot:

After trying a lot of different platforms I think the honest answer is that none of them are perfect. The best results usually come from spending time on your profile and being consistent.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Bumble, Match, Feeld, MeetMe, Plenty of Fish. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

I've also had a look at Ezhookups recently and the interface is cleaner than I expected. Worth checking out if you haven't.

The key is having good photos and a bio that sounds like a real person wrote it. Obvious but a lot of people skip it.

I got burned by a fake profile twice on the same site. Just be careful. Datebound was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

The short version is that your results depend heavily on three things: the platform, your location, and your profile quality. Change any one of those and your experience changes dramatically.

Mainstream options worth considering:

  • Match
  • Facebook Dating
  • Tinder
  • Plenty of Fish
  • Hinge

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Use a reverse image search on anyone's photos before agreeing to meet. It takes 10 seconds and saves a lot of headaches.
  • Video call before meeting in person. Anyone who refuses to video chat is a red flag.
  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.

Been keeping an eye on Datewander lately — the community there seems pretty active compared to some others I've tried.
