Been at this since the spring now, after deleting everything and starting fresh, and I still do not have a clean answer.

What actually frustrates me is that the onboarding boost gives you no idea when an account was last opened.

More often than not, the app's star rating gets the credit but how specific you're about what you want does the work.

Open questions, if anyone has dealt with the real free dating sites without payment requirements? — safety & ve question:

  • Is anyone getting different results with the free options?
  • Does that match what others see when working out who is real is the main worry?
  • Has that changed since the last update across the free options?

Direct experience of safety & verifi is what I'm after.

My working theory is that when working out who is real is the issue, how recently a profile was active predicts how long a conversation lasts better than the number of photos you upload where working out who is real is concerned.

Is that worth the time investment if you are dealing with working out who is real?

Where it falls down is that the account activity indicator makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, especially once working out who is real comes into it.

Broadly, on the free options, how narrow your filters are matters more than the app's star rating.

Souldate came up in a similar thread and the activity level was better than I expected.

Different result on my end. @SavannahW, the note on the free options produced nothing on my end.

My working theory is that nothing changes how long a conversation lasts as much as how narrow your filters are.

Echoing this — @KelseyA, the remark about filters is exactly right.

In practice, when working out who is real is the issue, how specific you're about what you want outweighs the boost you paid for for most people.

Has anyone compared the two directly outside your particular market?

This is close to my read — @annaK, the advice about calling early is the part people miss.

The detail that ruins it is that the recommendation engine makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out who is real.

My rules for working out who is real, such as they are:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, and doubly so for the broad user base.
  • Never move money under any framing, especially for the broad user base.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, and doubly so for the broad user base.
  • Tell a friend where you're going — the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.

The part nobody warns you about is that the account activity indicator rewards constant activity rather than genuine interest, especially once working out who is real comes into it.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the feature list gets the credit but whether an account has been verified does the work.

Adding Turndate to the list purely on how busy it is locally.

Lines up with mine — @SavannahW, the point about working out who is real is the one I'd emphasise.

Broadly, on the free options, whether you actually read the profile outweighs the feature list, which may say more about how I use them.

Adding Datebound to the list — the profiles feel more current than most.
