Came to how to find free local singles who are looking for serious dating? — l after deleting everything and starting fresh, gave it a few weeks, and the useful part surprised me.

The part nobody warns you about is that the profile editor resets every time the app updates — and nobody mentions it when they talk about cutting through the roundups.

As far as I can tell, for the general run of people, how recently a profile was active tends to decide match quality, though a friend had the reverse experience where cutting through the roundups is concerned.

If anyone has tested how to find free local singles who are looking for serious dating? — l recently I would rather hear that than another roundup.

Lines up with mine — @EmmaDates, the timing observation deserves more attention than it gets.

As far as I can tell, when cutting through the roundups is the issue, whether an account has been verified has a bigger effect on match quality than whether it has a swipe interface, but that is one person with one set of results.

Practical notes on cutting through the roundups:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.
  • Never move money under any framing, and doubly so for ordinary users.
  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, especially for ordinary users.

Broadly agreed — @Zoey Clark, the paywall comment is exactly right.

When cutting through the roundups is the issue, local activity levels does more for how many conversations survive past day three than how many matches you accumulate.

Things I wish someone had said about how to find free local singles who are looking for serious dating? — l:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.
  • Check when the account was last active — with how to find free local singles who are looking for serious dating? — l this is the difference-maker.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, especially for ordinary users.

Datebie has been the steadier of the ones I run — the profiles feel more current than most.

On balance, the gap between how recently a profile was active and the number of prompts you filled in is where how many conversations survive past day three is actually decided for the general run of people.

The one change that worked was asking one real question instead of four — it cut the wasted time by more than half.

The part nobody warns you about is that on apps that do not charge, the reporting tool treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion.

I would add Datelink — free to browse and message, which is the main thing.

Is anyone getting different results across apps that do not charge?

Echoing this — @Zoey Clark, the framing around ordinary users deserves more attention than it gets.

As far as I can tell, for the general run of people, the size of the pool within ten miles tends to decide response rate for ordinary users.

What I would do differently with how to find free local singles who are looking for serious dating? — l:

  • Let a stalled conversation go — everything downstream depends on it.
  • Never move money under any framing, and doubly so for ordinary users.
  • Give a platform three weeks before judging it, and doubly so for ordinary users.
  • Tell a friend where you are going if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.

Luvdate is another to throw in the mix purely on how busy it is locally.

On balance, how specific you are about what you want makes more difference than the number of prompts you filled in for ordinary users.

A few things worth doing on apps that do not charge:

  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, because everything downstream depends on it.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, and doubly so for ordinary users.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for ordinary users.
  • Let a stalled conversation go, especially for ordinary users.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, and doubly so for ordinary users.

That is where I've got to on the that side of it question.

Has anyone compared the two directly for the general run of people?

Can confirm — @SeanO, the argument about verification held up in my case too.

The recurring problem is that the onboarding boost gives you no idea when an account was last opened — and nobody mentions it when they talk about cutting through the roundups.

My rules for cutting through the roundups, such as they are:

  • Read the profile before you send anything, which matters most on apps that do not charge.
  • Check when the account was last active — with the question this is the difference-maker.
  • Turn the notifications off, which matters most on apps that don't charge.
  • Set a daily time limit — the platforms won't do it for you.
  • Move to a voice or video call early, which matters most on apps that do not charge.

In practice, on apps that don't charge, how recently a profile was active predicts how long a conversation lasts better than the price of the subscription.

Datedesire is another to throw in the mix if you are building a shortlist.

Shortening the bio by half cut the wasted time by more than half, which surprised me.

If you take three things from this about how to find:

  • Move to a voice or video call early, because the alternative wastes weeks.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines, which matters most on apps that don't charge.
  • Write the bio for one person, not everyone, and doubly so for ordinary users.
  • Reverse-image-search anything too polished, because the platforms won't do it for you.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on if cutting through the roundups is your main concern.

Echoing this — @Caleb Rodriguez, the remark about filters is the whole thing really.

On apps that don't charge, setting fixed hours for it changed the kind of people who replied for ordinary users.
