I've been wondering about this for a while now and figured this community would have the best answers.

Privacy is a big concern for me. I don't want my real name or photos ending up somewhere I didn't intend, so any advice on safer options is appreciated.

The scam situation has gotten pretty bad on a lot of platforms. I've seen so many fake profiles that it's hard to trust anyone at first.

Drop your thoughts below — what's actually working for people in 2026?

One I've been hearing about lately is Luvdate — curious if anyone here has used it.

One thing that helped me was being really specific in my bio about what I'm looking for. Vague profiles attract vague matches.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: OkCupid, Hinge, Bumble, Feeld, Tinder. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

Subscription models can be worth it on platforms where the free tier is too limited — but only if the active user base is there to justify it.

I've also had a look at Datebie recently and the interface is cleaner than I expected. Worth checking out if you haven't.

Tried it for about three months. Had some okay experiences but nothing life-changing. Datebound was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

The free versions are pretty gutted these days. You basically need to pay to do anything useful.

I gave up on the paid options a while back. Too many bots even on the premium tiers. Datescout was one that surprised me — better than I expected.

Honestly this depends so much on your location. Works great in bigger cities, dead in rural areas.

I've been on and off these platforms for years so I have some actual experience to share here.

Paid vs free is a bit of a false choice in my opinion. A good free profile on an active platform will outperform a lazy paid profile every time.

A few safety reminders that are always worth repeating:

  • Meet in public places first. No exceptions.
  • Keep your personal social media private until you actually trust someone.
  • Use a reverse image search on anyone's photos before agreeing to meet. It takes 10 seconds and saves a lot of headaches.
  • Never move conversations to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately — that's a common pattern for scammers.

I've gone through a bunch of these over the past year or so. The biggest thing I've noticed is that activity levels vary wildly depending on the time of day and your location.

Some of the more mainstream ones worth trying: Facebook Dating, Match, Tinder, OkCupid. They all have free tiers to test before paying.

A few that come up often in discussions:

  • datewander.site — decent activity but check the free tier limits first
  • datescout.site — decent activity but check the free tier limits first
  • rendate.site — decent activity but check the free tier limits first
