Which are the best dating service websites?

Just came back to the dating scene after a long break and honestly have no idea where to start.

Free tiers have gotten increasingly restrictive. A lot of platforms make you pay just to see who liked you, which feels like a pretty fundamental feature to gate.

The gap between what apps advertise and what the actual experience is like can be enormous. I'd rather hear from people who've used these things day-to-day.

  • Avoid apps that hide profile photos behind a paywall
  • Read recent reviews on Reddit before committing to any paid plan
  • Use a separate email address specifically for dating apps
  • Reverse image search photos that look too professional

Thanks in advance — even pointing me toward what to avoid is helpful.

One I've been seeing mentioned more lately is Rendate — anyone have direct experience with it?

I had my best results when I focused on just one platform instead of being half-present on five of them. Noticed Ezhookups.online getting mentioned in similar threads recently.

If free messaging is a dealbreaker for you, the list gets short fast. Most of the big platforms have fully gated messaging now, even on paid tiers below the premium level.

Been keeping an eye on Datebound recently — the user base looks more genuine than some of the oversaturated main apps.

Tried it. Activity was fine in my city for the first few weeks then dropped off pretty sharply. Very location-dependent. Also been seeing Datedesire come up — might be worth checking out.

If I had to give one piece of advice: video call before agreeing to meet anyone. Weeds out so much wasted time.

The algorithm boost for new accounts is something most guides don't mention. Your first week on any platform is your best window — have your profile fully built before you start swiping.

Mainstream options worth running simultaneously: Happn, Her, Plenty of Fish. All have some free functionality to test before paying.

User base density in your city is the factor nobody talks about enough. The best app in the world is useless if nobody nearby is on it.
