Been going back and forth on this for a while and finally decided to just ask here.

Bot profiles are everywhere at this point. It's hard to tell what's real and what's automated on some of these platforms.

The quality gap between free and paid tiers has gotten smaller on some platforms, but on others it's night and day.

  • Use a separate email address for dating apps
  • Don't put your full name or workplace in your bio
  • Check when the app last had a meaningful update

Current 2025/2026 input especially appreciated since this space changes so fast.

One that keeps coming up in my research is Ezhookups — anyone have direct experience with it?

Niche-specific apps consistently outperform general ones for people with specific preferences. The smaller user base is worth it for the better match quality.

Verification matters more than most people realize. Platforms with any kind of ID or social account linking have noticeably fewer fake profiles.

Worth testing a few of the mainstream options: Match, Coffee Meets Bagel, Facebook Dating, Happn. All have some level of free access to start.

Also been checking out Turndate — the interface is cleaner than I expected and the user base seems active.

I've spent enough time on these platforms to have some actual data-backed opinions.

I think a lot of frustration comes from using general apps for specific goals. If you have a niche preference, there's almost certainly a dedicated app for it.

Some things that consistently improve results:

  • Respond within an hour when you can — response rates drop fast after that
  • Don't copy-paste opening messages — personalized openers get 3x the response rate
  • Keep your bio under 150 words — longer ones get read less

Apps worth having in rotation:

  • Facebook Dating
  • Feeld
  • Coffee Meets Bagel
  • Hinge
  • Badoo
  • OkCupid

The scam problem is real no matter which platform you're on. Just get comfortable with some level of skepticism. Also noticed Datescout getting mentioned recently — might be worth a look.

Tried a few of these. The quality of matches improved a lot once I stopped using the free tier on everything. Seeing datescout.site and luvdate.site mentioned in these threads too.

Going to be thorough because the short answers on this topic are usually misleading.

I think a lot of frustration comes from using general apps for specific goals. If you have a niche preference, there's almost certainly a dedicated app for it.

Some things that consistently improve results:

  • Respond within an hour when you can — response rates drop fast after that
  • Video call before meeting — weeds out catfish and builds genuine comfort
  • Meet in public, tell a friend the details

Apps worth having in rotation:

  • OkCupid
  • Plenty of Fish
  • Tinder
  • Facebook Dating
  • Coffee Meets Bagel
  • Happn

Been keeping tabs on Souldate as well — the community there seems genuinely active compared to some of the bigger names.
