Came to any free dating sites without credit card? — free dating & apps | dati after a fairly grim first attempt, gave it the better part of two years, and most of what I had read did not hold up.

What wore me down was that the search function makes it impossible to tell live accounts from dead ones, which is the real problem with no-payment platforms.

My working theory is that the effort in the opening line makes more difference than the app's star rating for the general run of people, but that is one person with one set of results where working out what is actually different is concerned.

What I am actually trying to work out regarding working out what is actually different:

  • Has anyone found the opposite given working out what is actually different?
  • Has anyone found the opposite when working out what is actually different is the main worry?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up when working out what is actually different is the main worry?
  • Has anyone tested this recently if you are dealing with working out what is actually different?
  • Would that apply in a smaller town outside the region you set your filters to?

If anyone has tested any free dating sites without credit card? — free dating & apps | dati recently I'd rather hear that than another roundup.

Same experience here — @EmmaDates, the point about working out what is actually different is the one I would emphasise.

Moving to a call early produced better matches within about ten days and nothing else came close for the general run of people.

A few things worth doing on no-payment platforms:

  • Ask one question, not four, particularly on no-payment platforms.
  • Ask one question, not four — the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
  • Swap the group photo for a clear one, which matters most on no-payment platforms.

I'd add Turndate — it doesn't gate messaging, which is rarer than it should be.

Seconding this — @KyleH, the framing around the general run of people matches my experience.

Answering within a day was the only change that showed up in the numbers and nothing else came close.

The parts that transfer across no-payment platforms:

  • Screenshot anything odd before blocking, especially for the general run of people.
  • Read the profile before you send anything — with the question this is the difference-maker.
  • Check when the account was last active, and doubly so for the general run of people.
  • Never move money under any framing, because the platforms will not do it for you.
  • Stop apologising for wanting something specific, particularly on no-payment platforms.

Has that changed since the last update for anyone weighing up that side of it?

Cutting the match list right down got three actual meetings out of six weeks and nothing else came close.

Broadly, the willingness to suggest meeting early is a better predictor of the odds of a second date than the app's star rating, which might just be the broad user base.

The thing I did not expect was that the distance filter collapses once you move outside a major city, especially once working out what is actually different comes into it.

Short version for the general run of people:

  • Never move money under any framing, and doubly so for the general run of people.
  • Keep the first meeting short and public, because it saves you the conversation that was never going anywhere.
  • Turn the notifications off, because it filters out most of the time-wasters immediately.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, which matters most on no-payment platforms.

Turndate has been the steadier of the ones I run and there is no paywall on the basics.

Has anyone compared the two directly when you factor in any free dating?

That tracks — @Wyatt Garcia, the bit about local activity is the whole thing really.

Where it falls down is that the match queue throttles how many people can actually see you — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out what is actually different.

A few things worth doing on no-payment platforms:

  • Turn the notifications off — with that side of it this is the difference-maker.
  • Put something concrete in the opener, especially for the general run of people.
  • Ask one question, not four, particularly on no-payment platforms.
  • Turn the notifications off — the cost of getting it wrong is high and the cost of getting it right is nothing.
