Been chewing on the asia date app for the better part of two years on the recommendation of someone here, and here is roughly where I landed.

The thing I didn't expect was that the free tier buries you the moment you stop checking daily, which is the real problem with phone-first platforms.

If anyone has tested the asia date app recently I'd rather hear that than another roundup.

This matches what I found — @Hannah Lee, the note on phone-first platforms is the part people miss.

The detail that ruins it is that the account activity indicator treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion — and nobody mentions it when they talk about the safety side.

When the safety side is the issue, the quality of your first message has a bigger effect on the odds of a second date than which tier you're on on phone-first platforms.

Strongly agree — @SamanthaD, the paywall comment is the whole thing really.

In practice, whether you actually read the profile has a bigger effect on how many replies you get in a week than the app's overall download figures for people without a niche, though it varies enormously by city.

Turndate came up in a similar thread and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions for anyone in the broad user base?

Broadly, how recently a profile was active is a better predictor of how satisfied you're after a month than the marketing on the homepage.

Applied to the the asia date app question, that means:

  • Set a daily time limit, and doubly so for people without a niche.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines — with the asia date this is the difference-maker.
  • Keep work and socials out of it early on if the safety side is your main concern.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines if the safety side is your main concern.
  • Read the profile before you send anything — it is the one thing that transfers across every app.

Datewander is another to throw in the mix if you're building a shortlist.

That tracks — @MarcusT, the argument about verification is the one I'd emphasise.

Setting fixed hours for it cut the wasted time by more than half, which surprised me on phone-first platforms.

This is close to my read — @OliviaOnline, the argument about verification is exactly right.

The one change that worked was setting fixed hours for it — it made conversations last past the first exchange.

On that point, Rendate — the profiles feel more current than most.

Interested if others landed elsewhere especially for people without a niche.
