Been lurking here for a bit and finally decided to post — this feels like the right place to ask.

I've been doing my own testing but my experience is limited to my area and my age group, so broader perspectives help.

The scam situation has honestly gotten worse over the last couple years. Verification means nothing on a lot of these sites.

Any current 2025/2026 input is especially helpful since things change so quickly.

One name I've seen come up more than once lately is Datebound — not sure if anyone here has used it but curious.

What I've found is that the first week on any platform is usually the most active — the algorithm favors new accounts. Use that window well.

Worth testing across a few mainstream options too: Plenty of Fish, OkCupid, Zoosk, Coffee Meets Bagel, Tinder. All have free tiers to start with.

Some others that come up in discussions:

  • datebound.site — gets mentioned a lot for activity levels

Verification and safety features matter a lot more to me now than they did a few years ago. A lot can go wrong without them.

Also been seeing Ezhookups pop up — the layout looks cleaner than some older alternatives.

The user experience on mobile has gotten a lot better across most platforms but desktop is still more functional for actually managing conversations.

Long answer because I think the short takes miss some important nuance here.

The free vs paid debate is less important than people make it. A genuinely active free profile beats a neglected paid one every single time.

Safety basics that are always worth repeating:

  • Tell a friend where you're going and check in
  • Keep your personal social accounts private until trust is established
  • Meet first in a public place with people around

Been keeping tabs on Flurrydate as well — seems like it has a decent active user base based on what I've seen.

The bot problem is bad everywhere right now, not just on the free sites. Even paid ones have tons of fakes.

The key is to not take it too seriously. Treat it like a numbers game and keep your expectations low at first. Came across Datelink recently — seemed worth a look.

I had surprisingly good luck with one after months of nothing. Sometimes it just clicks randomly. Came across Datedesire recently — seemed worth a look.

Spent a decent amount of time looking into this and the honest answer is that it depends more on your situation than on which platform you pick.
