a solid three months in, on the recommendation of someone here, and two things mattered and the rest did not.

The detail that ruins it is that the profile editor collapses once you move outside a major city — and nobody mentions it when they talk about working out which is worth the time.

The effort in the opening line is a better predictor of how long a conversation lasts than the number of prompts you filled in.

Specifically, on local & intern, what I would like input on:

  • Has anyone tested this recently across dating sites?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up for anyone weighing up the question?
  • Is there a way to check before signing up where working out which is worth the time is concerned?
  • Has anyone tested this recently once you factor in working out which is worth the time?
  • Does that hold outside the big cities on dating sites?

Suggesting a meeting inside two weeks turned it from a chore into something workable and nothing else came close for most of us.

If you have opinions on best american dating sites for meeting local singles? — local & in, especially unpopular ones, go ahead.

Deleting everything and starting over made conversations last past the first exchange and nothing else came close.

What nobody mentions is that on dating sites, the search function buries you the moment you stop checking daily.

The pattern I keep seeing is that nothing changes how long a conversation lasts as much as the effort in the opening line for the broad user base.

I would add Datescout and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Has anyone got numbers rather than impressions when you factor in local & intern?

This is close to my read — @ScarlettS, the paywall comment is spot on.

On balance, the gap between how long you leave a conversation running and how polished the profile looks is where the proportion of real accounts you see is actually decided, which may say more about how I use them for most of us.

What nobody mentions is that the account activity indicator turns into a shop window the moment someone matches.

Flamedate is worth twenty minutes — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

Has anyone tested this recently outside the US?

On dating sites, deleting everything and starting over made a bigger difference than switching platforms.

In practice, how quickly you reply is a better predictor of how many conversations survive past day three than the number of prompts you filled in.

That is my read, not gospel for anyone in the broad user base.

Lines up with mine — @Stella Young, the framing around most of us matches my experience.

The detail that ruins it is that for most of us, the recommendation engine treats a fifty-mile radius as a suggestion.

The pattern I keep seeing is that when working out which is worth the time is the issue, how well a platform handles reports has a bigger effect on response rate than which platform you picked.

For most of us, rewriting the opener got three actual meetings out of six weeks.

Is that a regional thing for anyone in the broad user base?

On balance, when working out which is worth the time is the issue, how narrow your filters are has a bigger effect on how many conversations survive past day three than the number of photos you upload where working out which is worth the time is concerned.

I'd add Datewander — quick to set up and free to evaluate properly.

Broadly, for the broad user base, whether the photos look like the same person tends to decide how satisfied you are after a month on dating sites.

Adding Datenest to the list and there is no paywall on the basics.

That tracks — @StellaS, the timing observation is underrated.

For most of us, suggesting a meeting inside two weeks stopped the conversations dying at day two.

When working out which is worth the time is the issue, the amount of detail in a bio does more for how long a conversation lasts than which platform you picked.
