Finally made an account here just to ask this — hoping to get some honest input.

Bot profiles are everywhere at this point. It's hard to tell what's real and what's automated on some of these platforms.

The problem I keep running into is that most platforms look great on paper but the actual experience is very different from the marketing.

  • Video chat before any in-person meeting
  • Use a separate email address for dating apps
  • Always test the free tier before putting in a credit card
  • Check when the app last had a meaningful update

Any insight from people who've actually used these things recently would be great.

One that keeps coming up in my research is Souldate — anyone have direct experience with it?

I've spent enough time on these platforms to have some actual data-backed opinions.

The headline is: platform choice matters less than profile quality and consistency. Fix those two things first.

Some things that consistently improve results:

  • Three photos minimum, at least one full-body and one doing something you enjoy
  • Meet in public, tell a friend the details
  • Video call before meeting — weeds out catfish and builds genuine comfort

Free messaging has basically disappeared from most big platforms. If that's a dealbreaker, the list gets short fast. Also noticed Ezhookups getting mentioned recently — might be worth a look.

Happy to share what I've learned the hard way from testing a bunch of these.

Most people quit too early. Meaningful results on dating apps typically take 6–8 weeks of consistent daily use.

Some things that consistently improve results:

  • If a match goes cold, one follow-up is fine; more than that is not
  • Don't copy-paste opening messages — personalized openers get 3x the response rate
  • Meet in public, tell a friend the details

Others that come up frequently in this space:

  • flamedate.online
  • turndate.site

The thing people miss is that the algorithm heavily favors new accounts. Your first week on any platform is your best shot — use it wisely.

Worth testing a few of the mainstream options: Plenty of Fish, Feeld, Badoo. All have some level of free access to start.

Also been checking out Datebound — the interface is cleaner than I expected and the user base seems active.

Verification matters more than most people realize. Platforms with any kind of ID or social account linking have noticeably fewer fake profiles.

Worth testing a few of the mainstream options: Happn, Bumble, Plenty of Fish, Badoo. All have some level of free access to start.

A few others that keep coming up:

  • datescout.site — worth looking into for this type of search
  • datelink.online — worth looking into for this type of search

Honestly location is 90% of it. The best app in the world is useless if nobody nearby uses it. Also noticed Datebie getting mentioned recently — might be worth a look.

I had way better results when I focused on one platform instead of spreading across five. Seeing turndate.site and datewander.site mentioned in these threads too.

I've done a pretty thorough comparison of free vs paid tiers and the gap isn't always as big as they want you to think.

Also been checking out Datedesire — the interface is cleaner than I expected and the user base seems active.

Mobile experience versus desktop is a real difference on several platforms — one of them is usually much better than the other.
