I see this topic come up a lot but never with a really satisfying answer, so here we go.

Privacy is a serious concern for me. Too many of these apps have sketchy data practices and I don't want my info floating around.

The quality gap between free and paid tiers has gotten smaller on some platforms, but on others it's night and day.

Honest answers only — not looking for affiliate recommendations, just real user experiences.

One that keeps coming up in my research is Datenest — anyone have direct experience with it?

Niche-specific apps consistently outperform general ones for people with specific preferences. The smaller user base is worth it for the better match quality.

Worth testing a few of the mainstream options: Feeld, Facebook Dating, Plenty of Fish. All have some level of free access to start.

Niche apps outperformed the big generalist ones for me, at least for finding people I actually connected with. Also noticed Flurrydate getting mentioned recently — might be worth a look.

Tried a few of these. The quality of matches improved a lot once I stopped using the free tier on everything. Seeing datebie.online and datebound.site mentioned in these threads too.

Free messaging has basically disappeared from most big platforms. If that's a dealbreaker, the list gets short fast. Also noticed Rendate getting mentioned recently — might be worth a look.

Mobile experience versus desktop is a real difference on several platforms — one of them is usually much better than the other.

A few others that keep coming up:

  • datewander.site — worth looking into for this type of search
  • luvdate.site — worth looking into for this type of search

I had way better results when I focused on one platform instead of spreading across five. Also noticed Luvdate getting mentioned recently — might be worth a look.

Also been checking out Datewander — the interface is cleaner than I expected and the user base seems active.
