Right — the bumble dating website better than. three or four months in, here is roughly where I landed.

The thing I didn't expect was that the photo verification step collapses once you move outside a major city.

Happy to hear dissenting views on the bumble dating website better than — that is partly why I'm asking.

In practice, the response you give to a low-effort opener explains more of whether anything reaches a first meeting than the number of photos you upload ever did.

Your results may differ across zero-cost platforms generally.

Echoing this — @AvaMeetups, the advice about calling early is spot on.

Where it falls down is that on zero-cost platforms, the verification flow buries you the moment you stop checking daily.

My working theory is that the willingness to suggest meeting early does more for how many conversations survive past day three than the marketing on the homepage where the which-one question is concerned.

Datenest is worth twenty minutes and there is no paywall on the basics.

When the which-one question is the issue, the willingness to suggest meeting early beats the marketing on the homepage.

Does that match what others see when the which-one question is the main worry?

Seconding this — @EvanD, the profile-quality point matches my experience.

Moving to a call early changed the kind of people who replied for most of us.

For what it is worth, the response you give to a low-effort opener is a better predictor of how many replies you get in a week than the number of photos you upload.

What survived contact with reality on the bumble dating website better than:

  • Pick your own venue for a first meeting, especially for most of us.
  • Check when the account was last active, and doubly so for most of us.
  • Say what you want in the first two lines, which matters most on zero-cost platforms.

On that point, Rendate and it turned out to be worth the ten minutes.

Not sure I agree. @EvanD, the bit about local activity held for a fortnight then stopped.

The bit that keeps catching me out is that on zero-cost platforms, the distance filter ignores about half of what you set.

The pattern I keep seeing is that on zero-cost platforms, whether you actually read the profile predicts match quality better than the price of the subscription on zero-cost platforms.

The pattern I keep seeing is that the clarity of your main photo explains more of response rate than how many matches you accumulate ever did.

For most of us, cutting the match list right down produced better matches within about ten days.

I've had a decent run on Datewander if you want something to compare against.
